Monster Rilis Video di Balik Layar Pertukaran Rossi-Hamilton
To mark the one-year anniversary of the unique ride swap between seven-time MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi and then six time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton at Valencia last December, Monster Energy has released the following behind-the-scenes video.
The film not only features track action and interviews with Rossi and Hamilton but also conversations between Hamilton and Franco Morbidelli from the previous day, when the Petronas Yamaha rider 'coached' the Englishman on an R1.
"I think you should go more forward with [the position of] your head and at the same time you will go more outside [of the bike]," replies Morbidelli, when Hamilton says he doesn't feel like he's getting his body far enough from the bike.
"What a day. Thanks for having the patience with me," Hamilton adds.
"I saw some videos, you are a little bit old style," Rossi jokes the following morning, before pointing out differences between Hamilton and Morbidelli from pictures the previous day.
"For sure you will like this [M1] more, it's similar to the R1 but faster, lighter, brakes better, turns better, but the base is the same."
Meanwhile, Rossi admits to being "a little bit nervous" at driving the now seven-time world champion's F1 car. After his first run, the Italian jokes: "It's like you are in a washing machine!"
Members of the Mercedes team also give their thoughts on how Rossi and Hamilton got on...
“It’s been unbelievable. For me and for Lewis it’s a great emotion. I feel like a Formula 1 driver for one day! The car was just fantastic - a great honour to drive!” Rossi said at the end of the day.
“I’ve always been fascinated by bikes, and how MotoGP can find these crazy limits of speed and what a man and a motorcycle can actually do," said Hamilton. "This whole experience has just been absolutely incredible.
"Even though I’ve been riding bikes for the last couple of years, this was something else. Just to see the legend on track in front of me, and to be riding his bike was out of this world.”
