UPDATE: Josh Day to continue recovery after being moved out of 'intensive care'

Update MSVR can provide the following update to Josh Day's condition on behalf of his family:

Josh has now been moved out of the intensive care unit and continues his recovery in the Major Trauma Unit at Queens Medical Centre Nottingham.

Josh has undergone surgery to his jaw which has been deemed a success. His condition continues to improve and he has been speaking to members of his family.

He will have further rest and the next stage of his recovery will be with the physio team, who will be working to get him on his feet again.

The family would like to thank everyone for their messages of support during this time."

During last weekend's British Superbike round at Donington Park, Supersport riders Day and David Jones collided on the opening lap causing a red flag and a delay to the race of over an hour.

An immediate statement from event organisers MSVR on Saturday night read: “In the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship Race at Donington Park circuit earlier today (Saturday), Josh Day and David Jones crashed heavily on the first lap of the race exiting Roberts Corner.  The race was immediately red flagged.

“Josh Day sustained a significant head injury. 

“He was stabilised and put in a medically induced coma at the medical centre by the BSB medical team before being transferred to Queens Medical Centre/University Hospital, Nottingham for further investigations and treatment.

“David Jones sustained a shoulder injury.   Further information will be provided when available.”

Following the scary incident, positive news was released on Monday as Day had woken from his 'induced coma' and was able to eat soft food and drink, despite a broken jaw.
