Joe Sheldon-Shaw joins NP Racing BMW for 2022 BSB season
Joe Sheldon-Shaw has become the tenth different BMW rider to be confirmed for the 2022 BSB championship after signing with NP Racing BMW.
Sheldon-Shaw made his British Superbike debut at round five of the 2021 season (Donington Park) before taking part in all three races at the following round at Cadwell Park.
After three DNF’s at Donington, Sheldon-Shaw scored his one and only BSB point thus far after finishing 15th in race two.
A former Pirelli National Superstock competitor, Sheldon-Shaw will be making his full-time debut in the top class alongside Sam Cox who has already been confirmed.
Sheldon-Shaw said: "I’m very excited to be able to get a full season under my belt in the Superbike class with the NP Racing BMW team.
"We will be trying our best and take it step by step to make progress throughout the season.
"I’m so grateful that Neil and all of my family, friends and sponsors have made this possible and I can’t thank each and every one of them enough."
Sheldon-Shaw’ signing adds to BMW’s already series-leading participation numbers - the German manufacturer has four riders more than Honda and Kawasaki (6).
The British rider will make his first appearance at this month’s first of three official pre-season tests at Snetterton, before Silverstone plays host to the opening round in April (15-17).
Speaking about the new addition, Team Owner Neil Pearson added: "I'm excited to be working with Joe for the 2022 season. He will be running under the NP Racing banner and I think will prove to be a huge asset to the team.
"We are looking forward now to testing, so that we are ready for the opening round at Silverstone."
