Goff leads Honda charge in second practice

Jack Goff led a Honda onslaught during the second British Touring Car Championship practice session to top the times ahead of his WIX Racing team mate Brett Smith at Brands Hatch.

Having set the second fastest time during the opening 40-minute running, Goff went almost 0.2s faster than he did during the morning session to top FP2 with a 48.384 second lap, just 0.056s ahead of his Eurotech team mate Smith.

Honda proved the dominant force during the second practice with no less than six Honda Civic Type-Rs engulfing the top-seven order.

Speedworks Motorsport's Tom Ingram proved the only exception in what was otherwise an all Honda top-seven order after placing his Toyota Avensis directly behind the lead factory Honda effort of Dan Cammish in third.

Cammish once again outpaced his more illustrious team mate Matt Neal, who this time ended the session much higher up the order in fifth position behind Ingram in fourth.

BTC Norlin Racing's Chris Smiley ensured all three Honda outfits were represented in the top-seven order in seventh, while Matt Simpson backed up his impressive FP1 performance by setting the seventh fastest time aboard his Eurotech prepared Civic Type-R.

James Cole was eighth fastest aboard his Motorbase Performance Ford Focus RS, ahead of both Power Maxed TAG Racing Vauxhall Astra's of Josh Cook and Senna Proctor, who completed the top-ten order in ninth and tenth.

The majority of last year's championship challengers failed to even remotely bother the top-order with reigning champion Ashley Sutton languishing in 25th, directly ahead of Team BMW's Colin Turkington in 26th.
