Zamparelli conquers wet conditions to win season opener
Redline Racing's Dino Zamparelli produces a crushing performance in the wet conditions to win the Porsche Carrera Cup GB season opener at Brands Hatch.
Yesterday's pole-sitter led the race right from the start and quickly romped away from the JTR prepared GT3 911 Cup car of Lewis Plato in second position.
At one point, Zamparelli enjoyed a near one-second per lap advantage over the chasing the pack. However, once Tio Ellinas displaced Plato for second position on lap 11, Ellinas began to chip away at Zamparelli's near 11 second margin at the front.

At one point, Zamparelli enjoyed a near one-second per lap advantage over the chasing the pack. However, once Tio Ellinas displaced Plato for second position on lap 11, Ellinas began to chip away at Zamparelli's near 11 second margin at the front.
Ellinas managed to break Plato's resolve after outbraking the JTR runner with a brave move around the outside at Paddock Hill bend.
As the leaders began to pick their way through the lapped traffic amidst the spray, Ellinas sensationally managed to reduce Zamparelli's lead to little over four-seconds.
However, the leading Redline runner managed to rebuild some of his advantage towards the end of the race and increased the gap back to Plato to over six-seconds. Zamparelli eventually took the win with a 3.8 second margin, while Plato completed the podium order in third ahead of George Gamble in fourth.
Jamie Orton converted his Pro-Am pole position into a dominant class victory with a fifth place overall finish. The JTR driver conquered the treacherous conditions to finish ahead of Pro runner George Gamble, while enjoying a six-second cushion over his nearest Pro-Am rival Greg Caton in seventh.
Rory Collingbourne completed the Pro-Am podium order in eighth overall, as Dan Vaughn and Justin Sherwood completed the remainder of the top-ten.
Elsewhere, Peter Kyle-Henney maintained his form from qualfying and took the Am class victory ahead of Peter Mangion.
