Ellinas storms to Snetterton pole
Slidesports Engineering's Tio Ellinas will start tomorrow's opening Porsche Carrera Cup GB race from pole position after snatching the top-spot away from Dino Zamparelli in the dying seconds of the session at Snetterton.
Zamparelli had led field after setting a late 1 minute 50s lap around the Norfolk circuit. However, Ellinas produced a stunning lap during his final sequence of runs to deny his title rival pole position by over 0.3s.

Zamparelli had led field after setting a late 1 minute 50s lap around the Norfolk circuit. However, Ellinas produced a stunning lap during his final sequence of runs to deny his title rival pole position by over 0.3s.
Taking drop scores into consideration, Ellinas currently leads Zamparelli by a single-point as the pair share the front-row for tomorrow's first race.
While Ellinas enjoyed a handsome 0.3s margin in pole position, just 0.115s covered the times from Zamparelli in second to JTR's Tom Wrigley in sixth.
Dan Harper and Lewis Plato ended the session in third and fourth to complete an all JTR second row, while George Gamble set the fifth quickest time to complete the top-five ahead of Wrigley in sixth.
Porsche Carrera Cup GB newcomer Valentin Hasse-Clot immediately settled himself into the series by setting the seventh quickest time aboard his Motorbase Performance prepared Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.
The French driver was just 0.073s quicker than the lead Pro-Am runner Jamie Orton, who claimed pole position in his category ahead of Welch Motorsport's Jake Giddings and Motorbase Performance stablemate Dan Vaughn.
Peter Mangion and Peter Kyle-Henney continued their season-long Am category battle in 14th and 15th, with the former of the duo coming out on top in qualifying ahead of tomorrow's opening race.
