Ingram: Minimal risk, maximum points

British Touring Car Championship title contender Tom Ingram is bracing himself for a challenging weekend ahead at Knockhill, but believes the remainder of the calendar at Silverstone and Brands Hatch will suit his Toyota Avensis.

The Speedworks Motorsport driver lost the championship lead to two-time champion Colin Turkington following the previous Rockingham round, but remains just four-points off the Team BMW driver in second position.

Carrying 66 kilos of success ballast, Ingram is already mindful of the impact the weight will have around the infamous Scottish circuit.

"It’s going to be very hard," Ingram told Crash.net. "We’ve got a lot of weight going to Knockhill, which is not ideal. At the same time, Colin [Turkington] and Ash [Sutton] have also got a lot of weight.

"This will be the first weekend where Ash will be going into a weekend with a lot of weight. So hopefully that should kind of level it out a little bit, but it’s going to be tough.

"We have just got to take as many points as we can. Minimal risk, maximum points. We need to get the weekend done and over with as quick as possible."

While admitting the RWD friendly circuit Knockhill will favour Turkington and BMW this weekend, Ingram is optimistic his Toyota Avensis should have the upper hand during the final two rounds of the year at Silverstone and Brands Hatch.

Ingram, incidentally, won the reverse grid finale at Knockhill last season.

"Out of the next nine races, three of them favour the BMWs, but six of them favour us. So we’re probably in quite a good place," Ingram continued.

"It’s never been a disastrous weekend for us. We’ve always performed very well and out-qualified where we necessarily should’ve done. So we’ve just got to make sure we can repeat that."
