Jordan quickest in damp opening practice

BMW Pirtek Racing's Andrew Jordan has set the early benchmark at Donington Park after topping the morning's opening British Touring Car Championship practice session ahead of Subaru's Ashley Sutton.

With the conditions proving to be damp and tricky for the second consecutive BTCC meeting, Jordan once again set the pace during FP1 after edging the Subaru of Sutton towards the latter end of the 40-minute running.

Sutton had led most of the running, but Jordan demoted the 2017 champion following a late red flag with less than 10-minutes of the session to go.

Following the retrieval of Nicolas Hamilton's gravel stricken Ford Focus RS, Jordan duly posted a 1 minute 18.892s lap, which was good enough to pip Sutton by 0.050s.

Dan Cammish completed the top-three order aboard his factory Honda in third, narrowly ahead of the factory backed Toyota Corolla, driven by Tom Ingram in fourth.

Defending champion Colin Turkington was fifth fastest for Team BMW ahead of former double champion Jason Plato, who looks to be continuing his renaissance back up the order in sixth.

BTC Racing's Chris Smiley led a further trio of Honda machinery in seventh, with the AmD Tuning Civic Type Rs of Rory Butcher and Sam Tordoff following in close pursuit in eighth and ninth.

Team HARD's Jack Goff completed the top-ten order ahead of early championship leader Josh Cook in eleventh.
