Jordan keen to press on after Thruxton double

Three-weeks on from being side-lined from the Donington Park meeting following his race one shunt, BMW's Andrew Jordan bounced back to form in style after taking two British Touring Car Championship race victories at Thruxton.

The 2013 BTCC champion led home team mate Colin Turkington in both race one and two to record his second and third BTCC victories of the 2019 campaign, fronting two BMW 1-2 finishes in the process.

Starting from 11th in the reverse grid finale, Jordan looked set to add to his handsome Thruxton points tally, but found himself tagged into a spin and out of contention from fellow BMW driver Stephen Jelley.

"Two wins is wonderful and to head a BMW 1-2 is really impressive and I’m very happy with that," Jordan told Crash.net.

"Race three was unfortunate. Stephen [Jelley] has come and apologised. It is what it is. We can’t change that.

"Taking the positives, I’m so happy with two wins. It’s more than I could’ve hoped for. The car was good. It was tough with the weight in race two with the drizzle.

"Race one I was happy with, but that’s the first time in a few years I’ve done a race one and two double. We’ve certainly got some momentum back on our side now. The guys have got a bit of a break before Croft, where we should go well."

Having been unable to take part in the remainder of the Donington Park race day following his shunt, Jordan now boasts an impressive victory strike rate with the BMW driver winning exactly half of the races he's either finished or competed in so far this season.

As such, Jordan has moved back up to eighth in the points standings, 37 points adrift from Colin Turkington and Rory Butcher, who both share the championship lead on 102 points.

"I’m really happy. I’m feeling comfortable in the car and comfortable in the team. It’s important now to try and build on the momentum," Jordan continued.

"I’ve won three out of nine races so far this season. I’ve won more races than anyone so far this years. That’s good but racking up the points is the main thing from now on."
