Cammish quickest in opening Snetterton practice

Halfords Yuasa Racing's Dan Cammish sets the pace during the opening British Touring Car Championship practice session of the weekend, ahead of fellow Honda driver Matt Simpson at Snetterton.

Cammish enjoyed a strong outing at Oulton Park with two podium finishes prior to the BTCC's traditional summer break and the Honda Civic Type R driver looks set to maintain that momentum with the quickest time in FP1.

Simpson had led most of the 40-minute running in the older FK2 Civic Type R, however, Cammish set a 1'55.478s late in the session to jump ahead of his fellow Honda driver by 0.029s.

Just 0.030s covered the top three order around the longest lap of the season with Team Toyota GB's Tom Ingram setting the third fastest time aboard his Speedworks Corolla.

Andrew Jordan was fourth fastest for BMW Pirtek Racing but was over 0.4s shy of Cammish's best time. Jordan was followed by both Power Maxed Racing Vauxhall Astras, with Rob Collard leading two-time champion Jason Plato in fifth and sixth.

Unable to match the pace of his Team Dynamics during the opening session, Matt Neal set the seventh fastest time ahead of Team BMW's Tom Oliphant, Jake Hill and Tom Chilton who all completed the remainder of the top-ten in eighth, ninth and tenth.

Elsewhere, reigning champion and current points leader Colin Turkington was 15th fastest, while Aiden Moffat turned the Infiniti Q50's first race weekend laps in over four years in 30th.
