Three-time champion Shedden to make BTCC return with Team Dynamics
Three-time champion Gordon Shedden will make a return to the British Touring Car Championship after agreeing a deal to rejoin the Team Dynamics Honda outfit for the 2021 season.
Shedden won all three of his drivers' titles with Team Dynamics before stepping away from the series at the end of the 2017 season to race in the WTCR series for Audi.
The 42-year old has already tested the latest Honda Civic Type-R FK8 after Shedden stepped in for the injured Matt Neal during pre-season testing last year.
Shedden's last campaign in the series saw the 48-time race winner finish fourth in the standings after taking three victories during the 2017 season.
The Scot still remains the last Honda driver to have taken the title in the series following his third and, so far, final championship crown in 2016.
“I can’t wait to get back in the car! I have kept in touch with the team throughout and obviously jumped in the car early in 2020, when Matt was injured, and it felt great," said Shedden.
"That was the first time I had driven the new car and it felt right from the off. I’ve been keeping an eye on the Championship, and it looks mega competitive, but my fight and determination is as high as it’s ever been, so I’ll be giving it my all.”
Shedden's arrival comes days after Team Dynamics announced Dan Cammish would not be continuing with the Honda outfit for the 2021 season.
With the team yet to confirm a second driver for 2021, Matt Neal added: “It’s great to have Flash back in the car, he knows the team and he knows the way we work. He showed last year that he hadn’t lost his pace, so we are expecting great things of him, no pressure!”
