Power Maxed TAG Racing's Josh Cook has taken his second British Touring Car Championship victory of the season after producing a magnificent race winning charge at Thruxton.
The Vauxhall Astra driver started the race from ninth, but rose through the leading pack at a rapid rate of knots before passing Team BMW's Colin Turkington for the lead at the end of the eleventh lap.
Having powered past the pole-sitting Honda Civic Type-R of Matt Neal at the start of the race, Turkington led the large majority of the race but was powerless in keeping the much lighter Vauxhall of Cook behind him.
The decisive move of the race came at the final corner after Cook managed to outbrake Turkington around the outside of the last chicane.
However, despite finishing first on the road, Cook may come under some scrutiny following his earlier move on BMW's Andrew Jordan for fourth position earlier in the race. Cook appeared to cut a large chunk of the final chicane while getting past the BMW of Jordan.
For the time being, Cook will head into the reverse grid race as the championship leader as Tom Ingram lost his points lead with a 12th place finish.
Team BMW's Turkington eventually settled for a second podium finish in a row with a second place finish, while race one winner Neal held on for third ahead of Motorbase Performance's Sam Tordoff.
Jordan completed the remainder of the top-five order in fifth.
