Collard leads BMW 1-2-3 domination in final Oulton race

Rob Collard has taken his first British Touring Car Championship race victory of the season to lead a triumphant BMW 1-2-3 podium lockout ahead of Andrew Jordan and Colin Turkington at Oulton Park.

Collard started the reverse grid race from second but immediately powered into the lead not once, but twice after a big start-line shunt involving Tom Oliphant, Chris Smiley, Dan Lloyd and Rory Butcher meant the opening start was red flagged.

That mattered little for Collard, however, as the Team BMW driver produced a carbon copy of his first launch and subsequently moved his way past the Alfa Romeo Giulietta of Rob Austin heading towards turn one.

From there on, Collard managed to press home the advantage of running the option tyre by pulling away from Austin in second position. 

HMS Racing's Austin held onto second for the vast majority of the shortened third race, however, the three-time BTCC race winner suffered heartbreak on the ninth lap of the race after his Giulietta slowed into an eventual retirement with electrical issues.

That ultimately paved the way for Jordan and Turkington to follow through into the second and third, completing a magnificent BMW podium lock-out.

Third position for Turkington has meant the two-time champion has increased his championship to 12-points ahead of Adam Morgan in second.

Jack Goff scored vital points in fourth, while Morgan ensures he remains in the thick of the title battle after his fifth place finish.
