Andrew Jordan has won the second round of the 2019 British Touring Car Championship to give the BMW 330i M Sport its first race victory on its debut weekend at Brands Hatch.
Following the topsy-turvy opening race, Jordan stormed through the field from 15th on the grid to win the second race of the day by almost ten-seconds ahead of 2017 champion Ashley Sutton in second.
Despite starting from the mid-pack, Jordan managed to work his way onto the podium as early as lap nine before setting about chasing down the race leading BTC Racing Honda of Josh Cook, who was followed by the ever closing Subaru Levorg of Sutton in second.
Having led the way from pole-position, Cook enjoyed a near four-second lead at the race entered its tenth lap. However, it didn't take long for Sutton and Jordan to eat into that gap and by lap 15, Cook had dropped to third following an opportunistic move from Sutton at Graham Hill.
Sutton's move for the lead also allowed Jordan to follow through into second as the pair quickly drove away from Cook's ballast laden Honda in third.
From there on, Sutton was powerless in holding Jordan back and the 2013 champion duly drove around the outside of the Subaru on the start-finish to power into an unassailable lead on lap 17.
All Sutton could do was defend his second position as the BMR driver fell further into the clutches of Adam Morgan and Jake Hill. Sutton eventually prevailed for second, but only after holding off the Mercedes of Morgan in a photo-finish across the line.
Hill settled for fourth and goes into the final race of the day one point behind the early championship leader Cook.
Team Toyota GB's Tom Ingram gave the new Corolla its first top-five finish with fifth after holding off Team Parker Racing's Stephen Jelley who finished in sixth.
At one point, Jelley looked set to secure his first podium finish with the BMW squad, but the former BTCC race winner lost vital track position late in the race when his 1 Series slipped wide on the exit of Graham Hill corner when trying to demote Sutton for second.
Championship leader Cook eventually fell down the order to seventh, while Rory Butcher, Tom Chilton and Senna Proctor completed the remainder of the top-ten order in eighth, ninth and tenth.
