Turkington dominates for a 50th career BTCC win

Team BMW's Colin Turkington secures an historic 50th British Touring Car Championship race victory after claiming his second win of the day at Oulton Park.

In a mirror image of race one, Turkington was in imperious form and led every lap of the second race, despite having to contend with two safety car phases.

Turkington twice saw his advantage trimmed when the safety car was called upon for two separate incidents. The first of which involving BTC Racing's Chris Smiley and Team HARD's Jack Goff on lap three, before the race was once again neutralised on lap 13 following an incident with Sam Osborne.

Nevertheless, Turkington always appeared to be in control of proceedings and eventually crossed the line 1.2s ahead of his team mate Andrew Jordan to lead a dominant BMW one-two finish.

Jordan held second virtually from the word go after the WSR driver made another stonking launch from the second row to jump ahead of Honda's Dan Cammish by turn one.

Although Cammish was able to stick to the rear of Jordan throughout the race, the Honda driver was never quite in position to fashion a move on the Pirtek BMW 330i M Sport.

In the end, Cammish settled for third, while Tom Oliphant and Stephen Jelley ensured no less than four BMWs locked out the top-six order in fourth and sixth, with Sam Tordoff sandwiching the pair in fifth.

Jelley had started the second race from eleventh on the grid but made a superb late race charge on the soft tyre to pick his way through the pack at will.

Rory Butcher scored further points from his race one exploits in seventh, while Tom Ingram, Jason Plato and Josh Cook completed the remainder of the top-ten order in eighth, ninth and tenth.
