Laser Tools Racing's Ash Sutton has tamed the treacherous conditions to claim his second British Touring Car Championship race victory of the year after dominating race two at Oulton Park.

The Infiniti Q50 driver once again proved unstoppable after scything his way through the pack from eighth on the grid to take a near five-second victory over Motorbase Performance's Rory Butcher in second.

As early as lap three, Sutton found himself part of the leading quartet behind Butcher, Dan Cammish and Colin Turkington.

It didn't take long for the 2017 champion to move himself into a race winning position after passing both Turkington and Cammish on lap five before sailing past Butcher and into the lead on lap eight.

Sutton's move for the lead ahead of Butcher came on the exit of Old Hall, where the Infiniti enjoyed a far superior exit from the right hander heading down to Cascades.

Predictably, Sutton immediately put clear air between himself and the chasing pack led by Butcher. Butcher ultimately held onto second, while Team BMW's Turkington made a late move on Cammish to secure the final step on the podium.

Cammish's small error at Island allowed Turkington to gain the inside line for the following corner, dropping the Honda driver to fourth in the process.

Toyota Gazoo Racing UK's Tom Ingram finished in fifth ahead of Team BMW's Tom Oliphant in sixth. Oliphant started the second race from 13th but made another superb start, which catapulted the BMW driver right back into contention.

Jake Hill backed up his earlier podium result with a seventh place finish in race two, while Tom Chilton, Adam Morgan and Bobby Thompson completed the remainder of the top-ten in eighth, ninth and tenth.

After finishing in tenth, Thomspon will start the reverse grid race from pole position.
