Sutton charges from 11th to beat Turkington to race two win
Defending British Touring Car champion Ash Sutton has taken his second race victory of the season after producing a sensational charge from 11th place on the grid to win race two ahead of Colin Turkington at Snetterton.
Following on from a disappointing qualifying for the Laser Tools Racing driver, Sutton was forced to scythe his way through the pack from 11th on the grid, while Team BMW's Turkington led the majority of race two from pole position.
Turkington led all but two laps of the second race as Sutton picked his way through the pack on the softer option tyre at a rapid rate of knots. The Infiniti driver's race winning charge really picked up pace once he dispatched the Hyundai of Tom Ingram for third position on lap six.
Sutton then made light work of MB Motorsport's Ollie Jackson on the following lap before hunting down the race leading BMW with apparent ease.
Although it didn't take long for Sutton to catch and pass the West Surrey Racing BMW, Turkington kept close tabs with the Infiniti, finishing less than 0.5s behind as the pair crossed the line.
Turkington and Sutton now sit first and second in the current points standings, with early leader Jake Hill dropping to fourth following a dismal pointless second race for the MB Motorsport driver.
Jackson valiantly held on to third position ahead of Excelr8 Hyundai's Ingram in fourth, while Rory Butcher completed the top-five for Toyota Gazoo Racing UK in fifth.
Team BMW's Tom Oliphant led a trio of BMW 330i M Sports in sixth, seventh and eighth, ahead of Stephen Jelley and Adam Morgan.
Team HARD's Jack Goff scored a strong ninth place finish for new Cupra Leon, with Aiden Moffat rounding out the top-ten order in tenth.
