MB Motorsport's Jake Hill keeps his British Touring Car Championship title hopes alive after winning the reverse grid race at Silverstone.

The Ford Focus ST driver started the race from third on the grid, but moved past pole-sitter Dan Lloyd on the tenth lap to register his second race victory in as many weekends, which keeps him in touch in the championship battle.

After taking advantage of Jason Plato's sluggish start off the line, Hill stalked Lloyd for much of the first half of the race before striking with a decisive race winning move on the exit of Luffield on lap 10.

Hill's second win of the year means the MB Motorsport driver moves back up to third in the drivers' standings, despite starting the day down in 22nd position.

Despite losing the lead, Lloyd kept close tabs on the race leading Ford Focus and, at one stage, put Hill's race lead under some degree of peril. However, Hill's pace was enough to keep Lloyd at arm’s reach.

Reigning champion and current points Ash Sutton further strengthened his advantage at the top of the table with yet another measured drive to a podium finish in third.

Sutton started the reverse grid race from eighth, but masterfully picked his way through the pack to wind up just 1.4s off Hill's race win.

The Laser Tools Racing driver now carries a 36-point lead of Tom Ingram with just two rounds left to play.

Chris Smiley was the last of Sutton's victims in fourth ahead of Team BMW's Stephen Jelley in fifth.

Despite starting from the front row, Power Maxed Racing's Plato eventually fell to sixth ahead of Aiden Moffat, Colin Turkington, Dan Rowbottom and Ollie Jackson in seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth.
