DTM finalises 2013 calendar
The DTM championship has finalised a ten-race series calendar for 2013, subject to approval by the FIA.
The ten-race calendar is composed of six German based races while the remaining four races will take place on foreign soil, including notable new edition to the DTM, Moscow Raceway.
Brands Hatch also retains its place on the calendar, while the traditional Spanish round, which was already under doubt, has been scrapped.
Next year the calendar will go against the norm of previous years with only a two week gap between most races, resulting in a shorter championship span ending a month early in September.
"We are going to offer our fans an even more compact package in 2013," said Hans Werner Aufrecht, Chairman of DTM rights holder and promoter ITR.
"From early May to mid-September, DTM will be racing nearly every second weekend and provide the spectators top-class motor sport.
"In the course of the internationalisation, we are looking forward to the new and extremely attractive market in Russia. A market that is so attractive that we even were ready to forego the round in Spain, for this race.
"But we'd like to thank our partners in Valencia for the good cooperation in the past years," Werner concluded.
