DTM enhances DRS race use

The DTM will increase the driver's use of the DRS during the race as the series pushes for more overtaking in 2015.

Drivers will now be able to use the DRS system three-times a lap in 2015 but they must be within one-second of the car in front during the detection zone to engage the overtaking aid.

Last year the drivers only had to be within two-seconds of each other to engage the system but could only receive the use of the overtaking device on one occasion per-lap.

The DRS should prove to be more effective during this season as tweaks to the wing-angle means the drivers will deploy 18 degrees of drag reduction as opposed to the previous 16 degrees - creating the potential for higher top speeds.

In addition to the overtaking innovation, the teams will have to tackle the revamped qualifying and race double header with a reduced supply of tyres for 2015.

Instead of receiving five sets of tyres - which in 2014 included the use of the hard and soft compound - each car will be supplied with four sets of the new Hankook control rubber. The DTM outlawed the soft option at the end of last season.
