B.A.R-Honda driver Jenson Button describes a lap of Hockenheim - site of this weekend's German Grand Prix:

''The German Grand Prix is a very different race to how it used to be. This year will be only the second time that we have driven on the revised circuit and here I will take you on a lap of the Hockenheimring.

''We approach the first corner at 300 km/h in sixth gear and then drop down to fifth gear in turn one, which we take at around 215 km/h, maybe a little bit faster. This leads us onto a short straight, where we get up to a speed of around 300 km/h, again probably just holding sixth gear as I approach turn two.

''Turn two is a right-hand second-gear corner, where we will be travelling at around 85 km/h at the apex. As we come out of here the corner opens out a little bit and for turn three we shift into second gear and then go flat out down the back sweeper of a 'straight' to turn six, reaching speeds over 320 km/h.

''At the end of this we brake hard because turn six is a very tight first gear hairpin where we get down to around 60 km/h. On exiting that, we go into turn seven at 290 km/h in sixth gear.

''We then approach turn eight at around 300 km/h in sixth gear, and once again brake very hard because this corner is a very tight 90-degree left-hander, another second-gear corner, this time travelling at a speed of just over 90 km/h.

''Turn nine is a relatively gentle left-hand corner and as we accelerate out of turn eight we take this at around 150 km/h in second gear. We get into third gear and around 200 km/h before turn ten, where we only drop my speed slightly to around 190 km/h and hold third all the way through.

''We head back into the right-hander that leads back into the stadium, which I take at over 280 km/h. We take the corner itself in fifth at around 200 km/h. Now we're back in the stadium section, we approach turn thirteen, the Sachs Curve. We reach 265 km/h in sixth gear, and carry a bit more speed around this long left-hander. We take it at around 100 km/h in second gear.

''After turn thirteen we are flat through a kink before heading into the penultimate corner still in fifth gear at around 240 km/h, before dropping down to third for turn sixteen and apexing around 140 km/h in third.

''The final corner is very similar to the penultimate one but wereach speeds of 170 km/h in third and a good exit after those two corners is important as we head back on to the start/finish straight...''
