Leclerc improves
There looks to be very little grip out there as Leclerc slide his way through the final couple of corners. He's on top now with a 1m39.733s.

Still very early days in FP1 but Sainz is fastest for Williams now on a 1m41.164s, 0.164s ahead of Leclerc.

Leclerc leads the way with a 1m41.328s, 4.2s ahead of Alpine's Colapinto in second. Bearman is 4.6s off in third.

The fight for the title
Lando Norris is in control of the 2025 F1 title race after taking back-to-back victories in Mexico and Brazil. He is 24 points ahead of McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri.
On Wednesday, Norris conceded that expectations for McLaren are lower in Vegas due to the cooler temperatures.
Piastri hasn't finished on the podium since the Italian Grand Prix in September, finishing fifth in the last three consecutive races.
