2025 F1 Monaco Grand Prix - Friday Practice - As it happened

It was Ferrari's Charles Leclerc who topped the timesheets in FP1. He was 0.2s ahead of Max Verstappen.

Leclerc didn't enjoy a completely smooth session, though. He ran into the back of Stroll at the hairpin. As a result, Stroll has been hit with a one-place grid penalty. 

The action gets underway at 4pm UK time.

Leclerc is on top by over 0.2s. Verstappen, Norris, Albon and Piastri round out the top five. 

An improvement from Verstappen to go into second, 0.2s off Leclerc.

"For your info the front-left is gone. I think there is something wrong with the car."

Leclerc, Norris, Piastri, Sainz, Hamilton, Albon, Russell, Verstappen, Tsunoda and Alonso.

"We are nowhere. The car is... One corner is understeer, left corner is oversteer," he tells Ferrari. 

He improves to a 1m11.964s to move ahead of Norris at the top of the order. 

He's back out on track after picking up this damage earlier.

Norris, Leclerc, Hamilton, Piastri, Verstappen, Russell, Sainz, Alonso, Gasly and Hadjar. 

Norris sets a 1m12.290s to go 0.5s ahead of Hamilton. 

A strong lap from Hamilton on the mediums to go fastest with a 1m12.846s, 0.185s ahead of Piastri.

Verstappen slots into second, 0.4s off Norris' top time. Verstappen is running on the hards currently. 

Norris, Piastri, Leclerc, Verstappen, Hamilton, Gasly, Alonso, Sainz, Tsunoda and Hulkenberg. 

Norris goes 0.2s ahead of his teammate now to make it a McLaren 1-2. 

Piastri improves to a 1m13.821s to open up a 0.7s advantage over Hamilton.

The debris has been cleared and FP1 is back underway.
