Lewis Hamilton to produce Hollywood F1 film starring Brad Pitt

The film, untitled at the moment, will be shown on Apple TV and will be directed by Joseph Kosinski, the man behind Tom Cruise’s ‘Top Gun: Maverick’.

Hollywood legend Pitt, 58, will star as “a driver who comes out of retirement to compete alongside a rookie driver against the titans of the sport”.

Hamilton said: “It’s a really cool project and we’re already working on the script. I’m very much involved in the script, which is fun, and spending good time with Brad, which is pretty epic.

“My responsibility and something that I take on is just really making sure that the cast and the crew in the background is diverse. That’s something I really highlighted at the beginning. 

“If you look at all the racing movies, you can’t necessarily say that they’ve all been spectacular and that’s something we want to change. 

“It’s really about showing how great this sport really is to people that maybe have never watched it, but also make sure that we keep the real heritage and the true racing spirit within the movie and the script, and that’s really my role.” 

Pitt has been spotted at many grands prix in the past, and even featured in the 24 Hours Of Le Mans race in 2016.

This is the latest project to bring F1 to the big screen.

In 2013, ‘Rush’ was a film about Niki Lauda and James Hunt.

‘Drive To Survive’ on Netflix was then widely credited for bringing the sport to a new audience and increasing its US-based popularity in the Liberty Media era.
