- Pitlane starts: Fernando Alonso, Lance Stroll, Nico Hulkenberg, Kevin Magnussen
Both Aston Martins and both Haas drivers will start from the pitlane.
Fernando Alonso is reverting to his Qatar spec of car. Lance Stroll will remain with the latest version but with a different set-up, and Aston Martin plan to compare the two. They both were eliminated in Q1 on Friday.
Haas brought major updates to Texas but qualified in 14th and 16th, then struggled in the sprint. So they are changing the set-up meaning Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg begin from the pitlane.
Ferrari are the only team aside from Red Bull to win an F1 grand prix in 2023 and, in Texas, they will have a chance to repeat the trick with Charles Leclerc starting in pole position.
Max Verstappen's best lap was deleted for exceeding track limits so he starts from sixth.
McLaren's Lando Norris and Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton are in second and third, intriguingly. The two Brits will want to lay down a marker in the chase towards the dominant Red Bulls.
The under-fire Sergio Perez is ninth but will need to dramatically improve that to relieve some pressure.
