Rosberg picks up Bandini trophy
Nico Rosberg has been named as the latest recipient of the prestigious Lorenzo Bandini Trophy, following in the footsteps of other major F1 figures.
Mercedes Grand Prix man Nico Rosberg has won the illustrious Bandini trophy, it has been confirmed.
The Trofeo Lorenzo Bandini is awarded in memory of the Italian driver, who perished in a fire at the Monaco Grand Prix in 1967. Last year the trophy went to Lewis Hamilton - and prior to that F1 2010 world champion, Sebastian Vettel (in 2009) and Robert Kubica (in 2008).
It was first given out in 1992 to Ivan Capelli to mark the 25th anniversary of Bandini's tragic demise. Since 1995 it been given out annually. Other winners include Jenson Button, Juan Pablo Montoya, Michael Schumacher, Kimi Raikkonen, Fernando Alonso, Mark Webber and Felipe Massa.
Rosberg will be presented with the trophy in Bandini's hometown of Brisighella on June 5.
