McLaren-Mercedes ace Jenson Button made history this week when he became the first driver ever to lap the legendary Bathurst circuit in Australia at the wheel of an F1 car ahead of this weekend's Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.
Driving a 2008-spec MP4-23, the 2009 F1 World Champion set a new unofficial lap record around the four-mile Mount Panorama Circuit in New South Wales - some 20 seconds quicker than had ever been achieved previously - before proceeding to swap cars with multiple V8 Supercar Champion and five-time Bathurst 1000 winner Craig Lowndes.
