Kimi Raikkonen has options beyond Lotus for the 2014 F1 season according to manager Steve Robertson, despite the fact that the Finn is now out of the running to join Sebastian Vettel at Red Bull.

Reports in the Finnish media revealed that talks between Raikkonen and Red Bull had ended 'some time ago', with speculation that terms couldn't be agreed on a deal that would have seen the 33-year-old replace Mark Webber next year.

Robertson has now confirmed that the 2007 title winner won't be part of the Red Bull line-up next year after talks between the two parties broke down, although he insisted that the Finn retains options for next year.

Speculation has suggested that Raikkonen could make a surprise return to Ferrari next year as a replacement for Felipe Massa, who again finds his role with the Scuderia at risk, and Robertson said there were different options for his client to look at before deciding on his future.

"Talks broke down," he told the BBC when asked about the discussions with Red Bull. "We haven't spoken for a little while and it's clear Kimi won't be driving for Red Bull in 2014.

"Kimi's a free agent. He still has options out there.

"There's a lot of things happening behind the scenes and I'm pretty confident he will be in F1 next year."

Despite the speculation however, Ferrari insists it won't be drawn on speculation about its driver line-up for the 2014 season, insisting only that a decision will be made when the time is right about who will be at the wheel of its cars next year.

"This is the exact same scenario as last year - with not only Kimi but a long list of other drivers allegedly going to Ferrari," a spokesman revealed. "At the moment our priority is produce the car for Fernando and Felipe and a decision on the 2014 line-up will be made at the appropriate moment, which is not right now."
