F1: '2014 for Ferrari was a huge disaster'
Ferrari chairman Sergio Marchionne has described the 2014 F1 season as "a huge disaster" for the team.
A year of turmoil saw Ferrari fail to win a race all season for the first time since 1993, with the team only managing two podiums all year courtesy of Fernando Alonso. Off the track there was also instability, with Ferrari now on its third team principal of the year and both Luca di Montezemolo and Alonso leaving.
Following a number of personnel changes announced over the past two weeks, Marchionne said next season would also be a tough one as the team tries to lay the foundations for future success.
"2014 for Ferrari was a huge disaster," Marchionne said at Ferrari's Christmas media briefing. "[2015] will be a year of transition because we are late due to certain choices that we do not share which were made in 2014"
New team principal Maurizio Arrivabene says the main priority for next season is to ensure Ferrari is working efficiently and showing signs of progress.
"It will be a real team," Arrivabene said. "I do not believe that F1 is about the success of the individual but of the team ... We will have a team that is working together because everyone feels part of a common goal.
"If we win two grands prix next year it is a success for us, and if we win three it is a triumph."
