Lynn: I hope I gave a good account of myself
Alex Lynn feels he 'gave a good account of myself' after his track debut for Williams at the in-season Formula 1 test and leaves Barcelona delighted by his progress.
The reigning GP3 Series champion was handed his maiden run in the Williams FW37 Formula 1 car for Wednesday at the Circuit de Catalunya since being named as the team's development driver over the winter.
The British driver also picked up his first GP2 Series victory at the same venue over the race weekend and his first test in the Williams car capped a fantastic few days.
Lynn completed 52 laps on Wednesday, clocking a fastest lap of 1m 26.967s, and says he felt satisfied with his performance in the car.
"With the test programme I was given, I hope I gave a good account of myself, and I think I did as well as I could hope for," Lynn said. "After scoring my first GP2 Series race win I've had a pretty amazing three days. First of all the reaction from everybody about my GP2 success, and then my first test day in a Williams-Mercedes FW37 Formula 1 car at the same track."
Lynn also says he picked up and wealth of knowledge and experience from the Williams team and singled out Felipe Massa as a handy mentor.
"The test was for two days and my team-mate Felipe Massa - how good does that sound, to call a multiple Grand Prix winner my team-mate," he marvelled. "From the outside, testing often doesn't look that exciting, but it was important to me to see how he conducts himself at a test.
"If I want to be a Grand Prix driver, I need to learn from people like him, and he's a great person to learn from."
