Best result since 2012 for Maldonado
Pastor Maldonado is finally off the mark in 2015 after keeping it clean to secure a seventh place finish for Lotus in the Canadian Grand Prix.
The Venezuelan was well placed to score his first points of the year after qualifying on the third row in sixth place, but having recovered from a poor start that left him seventh initially, he got as high as fifth place at one stage.
Unable to resist the charge of Sebastian Vettel and Felipe Massa late on, Maldonado nonetheless crossed the line in a comfortable seventh place, marking his best result in F1 since he finished fifth in the 2012 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
"Finally, here we are in the points! I think now we've started scoring there's potential for this to be a great season for us as we have really good pace. It was a good race.
"We had to pit quite early to gain the place against Nico Hulkenberg which made the later part of the race quite tricky and I couldn't defend later on as a consequence. I'm pleased for the team that we got both cars in the points; let's continue like this."
