McLaren hit early trouble on the opening day of the second Formula 1 pre-season test in Barcelona as Stoffel Vandoorne suffered two stoppages within the first hour of running on Tuesday.
Following a mixed opening test that saw McLaren lose track time to some minor car problems and bad weather, the team looked to hit the groud running by sending Vandoorne out early on the first day of the final winter test.
However, Vandoorne's car came to a halt halfway down the pit lane following his installation lap, forcing the McLaren mechanics to push his stricken MCL33 the remainder of the way.
Vandoorne returned to the track following a check from the McLaren team, only for a red flag to be thrown at the one-hour mark in the day when the Belgian came to a halt close to the start/finish line.
"We suffered a power shutdown during Stoff’s last run, meaning we lost data. The team are investigating, but we’ll be back out as soon as we can," the team confirmed via Twitter.
Vandoorne is yet to return to the track at the time of writing with just four laps on the board for the day.
