Six-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has teased his “epic” ride swap with Yamaha MotoGP rider Valentino Rossi following their crossover in Valencia on Monday.

Hamilton and Rossi completed their highly-anticipated ride swap at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, but no official details or footage has come out yet about the test that was run behind closed doors.

The running saw Hamilton add to his growing experience on two wheels, having previously conducted some running on a Yamaha R1M Superbike at the end of 2018.

It also marked nine-time world champion Rossi’s first running in an F1 car since 2010, getting behind the wheel of the 2017-spec Mercedes W08.

In a message posted to Instagram on Wednesday morning, Hamilton apologised for the lack of official news on what he and Rossi got up to.

But he confirmed there had been "no troubles at all" during the test, calling it "the best day ever".

“Morning world! Hope everyone’s doing great,” Hamilton wrote in his post. “Sorry there’s been no news yet on what me and @valeyellow46 been [sic] up to yet but all I can say is that it was epic.

“We both did great, no troubles at all and had the best day ever!”

The ride swap was arranged by Monster, a mutual sponsor for Hamilton and Rossi, as well as their respective Mercedes and Yamaha teams in F1 and MotoGP.

The last official update about the swap were pictures of Rossi completing his seat fitting in the Mercedes car, which were issued last week.
