Enzo Fittipaldi fractures heel in F2 Jeddah start crash
Fittipaldi crashed into the back of Pourchaire’s stalled ART car at the start of the race.
The race was immediately red-flagged as medical staff assisted Fittipaldi and Pourchaire out of their cars.
Both drivers were transported to King Fahad Armed Forces Hospital shortly afterwards for routine checks
Pourchaire confirmed on social media that he was “fine” but remained unsure if he could race in the Abu Dhabi finale this weekend.
Pietro Fittipaldi - Enzo’s brother - released an update confirming that he’s “is awake/alert and resting at the hospital.
“Hey everyone thanks for all the messages,” he wrote. “Enzo is awake/alert and resting at the hospital. He has a fracture in his right heel but thankfully things are much better than what we all expected.
“Thank you to the FIA, the team and all the medical staff here in Saudi Arabia.”
The F2 campaign concludes this weekend at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi with Oscar Piastri on the brink of the title.
Piastri won the feature race in Jeddah after half points were awarded.
The Alpine junior has a 52.5 points advantage over Prema teammate Robert Shwartzman.
Hey guys, I am very grateful that I only broke my heel and have some cuts and bruises. Thank you all for the messages, as well as the FIA and medical staff for taking great care of me. I am very happy that Theo is ok. I will be back on track soon and faster than ever. pic.twitter.com/3aLqaEQtgn
