Doornbos ready for Masters.

Robert Doornbos took another important step in his preparations for next weekend's Marlboro Master of F3 event by completing a comprehensive final test session at the N?rburgring in Germany.

Dutchman Doornbos is leaving nothing to chance ahead of his maiden appearance in Marlboro colours, and was among 30 drivers taking part in the test, where he and his Ghinzani team completed a complete appraisal of the newly red-liveried Dallara-Mugen, and focused on running a new engine substituted by Mugen-Honda after problems in the last Euroseries round at Le Mans.

"In this morning's session, I was in the top five positions," Doornbos explained, "Then we mainly worked on trying different solutions on my car and we got some quality information from the session.

"This afternoon, the track conditions changed a lot, but we continued to work on the car and I managed to use my new set of tyres only in the last 15 minutes. However, I could not set a faster time because I was studying the behaviour of my Dallara with the new modifications.

"I'm really satisfied with the job we've done and I'm very confident for the Marlboro Masters. The car looks really wonderful in white-and-red colours - it seems to be a small Ferrari!! I'm looking forward to go to Zandvoort and having a good performance there. This year I want to finish at podium!"

Doornbos will carry the #19 at Zandvoort, as opposed to his regular Euroseries #16.
