Sargeant storms to second Silverstone pole in Formula 3
Logan Sargeant will start on pole position yet again after the American dominated Formula 3 qualifying at Silverstone.
Liam Lawson joins Sargeant on the front row of the grid - a repeat result to last week’s round at Silverstone.
Sergeant’s team-mate and F3 series leader Oscar Piastri is set to start down in 11th after stopping on track on two occasions.
The first time, Piastri stopped on the entry to the pits after the first runs but managed to get his car going again thanks to the help of the marshals - this will be investigated by the stewards after the session.
He wasn’t as fortunate the second time, coming to a halt at Brooklands causing a red flag and thus halting the session, ruining many drivers’ laps in the process.
The session restarted with just over four minutes on the clock meaning drivers had time to improve their fortunes.
Jake Hughes briefly took provisional pole position but late efforts from Sargeant and Lawson meant the Briton will be forced to start from third.
Frederik Vesti lines up fourth ahead of Bent Viscaal in the MP Motorsport and Theo Pourchaire in the lead ART car.
Jack Doohan qualified seventh and will be looking to score his first points of the season, with David Beckmann, Ben Barnicoat and Lirim Zendeli rounding out the top ten.
Sophia Florsch was unable to complete a lap at the end of the session due to a mechanical issue.
The Formula 3 feature race is set to take place before final practice for Formula 1 at 0925 local time.
