Toth ruled out of F3 Paul Ricard round after positive COVID-19 test
Toth sits 30th in the drivers’ standings after the first round of races in Barcelona, having failed to score a single point.
The Hungarian driver tested positive for COVID-19 during the mandatory pre-race PCR test.
Due to Toth not being in contact with any members of the Campos team, the Spanish outfit remains unaffected otherwise.
He will now have to undertake a period of isolation but should be able to return for the third round in Austria on July 2-4.
A statement from F3 read: “The FIA, Formula 3 and Campos Racing can confirm that during mandatory pre-race PCR testing for the 2021 French Grand Prix and its associated support events, Campos Racing driver László Tóth tested positive for COVID-19. In accordance with COVID-19 protocols and public health authority guidelines, he will continue to isolate for the required period and therefore not compete during the French Grand Prix weekend.
“No other members of the Campos Racing team have been affected by this situation.”
Campos posted a message of support on its social media account.
“We hope you get well soon Laszlo! We will be back better for Red Bull Ring,” read a post on Campos Racing’s Twitter account.
Campos has yet to confirm who will replace Toth for the upcoming weekend in France.
It is one of two teams yet to get off the mark in 2021, with 16th its best finish of the season so far.
