Statement from IndyCar ahead of the race start:

After the delay to the start of the 108th running of the Indy500 IndyCar has released this statement:

"Per rule 7.3.2.1, while we anticipate plenty of time is available, today's race will go 200 laps or until 8:15pm Et (1:15am BST) - in agreement with local law enforcement, to ensure race fans are able to leave and return home safely tonight."
