Audi's Mike Rockenfeller will start Sunday's DTM race from pole position ahead of team mate Mattias Ekstrom after Q4 was abandoned in a wrangle about airspace over Moscow Raceway.
Audi achieved its ambition of adding a 12th Le Mans 24 Hour title to its already bursting trophy cabinet, but the post-race atmosphere was a very subdued affair.
Toyota's Nicolas Lapierre crashed out of contention for a podium position as heavy rain swept over Le Mans, causing mayhem and the 11th safety car of the 24 Hour race.
There was a comfortable lead for the Audi #1 during the first four hours, but glitches hit the #2 and #3 cars allowing Toyota to keep them honest and apply some pressure.
