The city of Edmonton will no longer be hosting an IZOD IndyCar Series race in 2013, after the decision by the local prompters to no longer stage the event citing disappoining attendance.

As rumoured on Carb Day, a deal has finally been agreed to add the Rexall-backed weekend in Edmonton to the 2008 IndyCar schedule, increasing the number of confirmed races to 17.

There may be over seven months until the Champ Car World Series arrives in Edmonton, but excitement is already building ahead of the race on 17 July.
