Despite the introduction of several new low-drag venues to the F1 calendar such as Azerbaijan, Russia and Mexico, the Italian Grand Prix is the only round where the grid is undivided on aerodynamic setup.

The return of the Hockenheimring is a welcome one for most F1 fans, and it should hopefully provide some close racing. The circuit has tended to bring out the best characteristics in every car over the years, as time can easily be gained – or lost – over each part of the track.

The FIA has confirmed the appointment of ex-Ferrari Formula 1 chief designer Nikolas Tombazis as its new head of single-seater technical matters ahead of the 2018 racing season.

Just four days of testing down and it would be fair to conclude that 2018 looks set to at the very least be another tussle between last year’s title contenders, Mercedes and Ferrari.
