2025 24 Hours of Le Mans: Wednesday 11 June as it happened

Live text coverage of Wednesday at the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans

The 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans begins officially on Wednesday 11 June with opening practice and the first qualifying sessions of the event.

The jewel in the World Endurance Championship crown, the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans will see 62 cars across three categories battle it out to etch their names into the history books in arguably motorsport's most famous race.

Ferrari comes into the 2025 edition of the enduro as the reigning winners, having tallied up success in the Hypercar class over the last two years, and is firm favourite to complete the hat-trick this weekend.

Having won all rounds of the 2025 WEC campaign so far, a Balance of Performance adjustment for Le Mans appears to have allowed Ferrari to maintain its advantage over its rivals.

Wednesday 24 Hours of Le Mans schedule:

  • FP1 - 2pm CET-5pm CET
  • Qualifying LMP2/LMGT3 - 6:45pm CET
  • Qualifying Hypercar - 7:30pm CET
  • FP2 - 10pm CET to 12am CET
11 Jun 2025
18:05

As it stands, in LMP2, the No. 29 car, the No. 18 car, the No. 24 car, the No. 34 car and the No. 9 car will not be advancing to the next stage of qualifying on Thursday.

In LMGT3, the cars in danger are the No. 10, the No. 57, the No. 21, the No. 85, the No.31, the No. 60, the No. 150, the No. 90, the No. 13, the No. 61, the No. 63 and the No. 87.

18:02

Just before the stoppage, the No. 199 AO Racing car retook top spot in LMP2 with a 3m36.020s.

18:00

The No. 60 Iron Lynx Mercedes has stopped at the chicane. Possible fuel pressure issue.

18:00
Red Flag

Qualifying has been red-flagged due to an incident at the Dunlop chicane.

17:59

But that doesn't stand for long as the No. 78 Akkodis ASP Lexus for Arnold Robin is now top with a 3m57.321s.

17:58

The No. 81 TF Sport Corvette driven by Tom Van Rompuy is fastest in LMGT3 with a 3m58.044s ahead of the No. 92 Manthey Porsche.

17:57

All change again in LMP2, though, as the No. 25 Algarve Pro car driven by Theo Pourchaire is now fastest with a 3m36.612s from the No. 48 VDS Panis Racing entry.

17:56

Ben Hanley put the No. 23 United Autosports entry top in LMP2, but he is bested by last year's P2 polesitter Louis Deletraz in the No. 199 AO by TF car.

17:55

The No. 92 Manthey Porsche driven by Ryan Hardwick leads LMGT3 at this stage with 20 minutes to go.

17:54

The No. 48 VDS Panis Racing LMP2 car pushed too hard into the Ford chicane and was spat off track.

It goes to sixth, but that will be scrubbed for track limits.

The No.29 TDS Racing car of Mathias Beche is fastest in class at 3m38.134s.

17:51

Already we've got cars in traffic at the start of their laps.

Five minutes gone in qualifying, so there really is very little room for error.

17:49

For reference, last year's pole in LMP2 was the No. 14 AO by TF car at 3m33.217s.

In LMGT3, it was the No. 70 Inception Racing McLaren at 3m58.120s.

17:48

As far as temperatures go, it's not pleasant out there. It's 30 degrees C air and 43 degrees C track temp.

17:47

This will be fascinating because the LMP2 cars and LMGT3s could cause headaches for each other in terms of traffic.

17:44
Qualifying - Green flag

The LMP2/LMGT3 qualifying session is underway!

There's a new format in place for this session in 2025, with the top 12 drivers going through to a Hyperpole tomorrow to fight for top spot.

The idea is that it will give more drivers a chance to fight for pole.

Qualifying build-up

Good evening and welcome back to our live coverage of the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Apologies for our earlier technical troubles, but we're back up and running for qualifying.

Up next is a 30-minute qualifying session for LMP2 and LMGT3.

14:53

Apologies for the radio silence. We've had a few tech issues but we're back up and running.

We've had two brief red flags in the last half and hour. The first was due to a crash for the No63 Iron Lynx Mercedes.

The second was for unknown reasons, but we're back green again with just over an hour and 10 minutes to go in FP1.

13:39

So, half an hour gone in FP1 at Le Mans at the top cars in each class are:

Hypercar - No50 Ferrari - 3m25.302s

LMP2 No28 IDEC Sport - 3m28.165s

LMGT3 No81 TF Sport Corvette - 4m02.401s

13:30

13:23

The #38 Jota Cadillachad abig spin acrossthe kerbs attheend ofthe lap,but got away withit.

Earl Bamber is behind the wheel of that car and has just reported "the car is ok but the car doesn't brake still".

I spoke to Bamber this morning and he mentioned braking was the area all the Cadillac drivers say is the big issue.

13:20

It's an absolutely stacked Hypercar field this year in terms of manufacturers.

We've got:

  • Ferrari
  • Toyota
  • Porsche
  • Cadillac
  • Alpine
  • Peugeot
  • Aston Martin
  • BMW
13:16

13:13

After 15 minutes of running we have the #50 Ferrari leadingtheway outright with a 3m25.302s, which is fastesr than whatthe #8 Toyota toppedthe testday with.

13:12

It looks like the #24car actually wentoff on some gravel.
