Guillod signs for Kemea Yamaha MXGP team
By Adam Duckworth
Valentin Guillod has ended months of speculation as he's signed for the Kemea Yamaha MXGP team for 2016 after splitting with his old team Standing Construct Yamaha in an argument over off-season training and testing. Guillod wanted to ride Supercross while Standing Construct insisted he train in sand - his weak area.
Guillod walked out, safe in the knowledge he had a factory Yamaha contract but he needed a team to run him. The Swiss ace recently admitted both Kemea and the factory RInaldi team were both in the running to be his team for 2016.
Last year Guillod had some stunning rides on his YZF250 in the MX2 class, beating Jeffrey Herlings as he secured three moto wins and overall GP victories as he took fourth in the championship.
Having turned 23 on December 18, he has reached the age limit for the MX2 class. Guillod is scheduled to make his race debut in the Italian championship at Alghero on January 30-31.
