MotoGP Gossip: Minimum 10 races the target for 2020 season

- Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta says his new target for the 2020 MotoGP season is a minimum of 10 rounds but wants to put on as many as possible. The MotoGP organising body boss is also open to the idea of running races behind closed doors but accepts financial implications would impact any decisions. Ezpeleta also explained the FIM’s rule on a minimum of 13 rounds is only in place under “normal conditions” which doesn’t apply to 2020.

- Loris Capirossi has joked MotoGP will change its rules on age limits to allow Valentino Rossi to continue racing past 50 years old. MotoGP rules state no rider can compete over the age of 50 and while Rossi has recently turned 41 he is now considering whether to continue until he is at least 42. (Sky Sport Italia via Marca.com)

- Following the unofficial postponement of the Catalan MotoGP which had been set to take place on June 7, the Italian round at Mugello is also expected to suffer the same fate. Mugello is scheduled to host the Italian MotoGP on May 31. (La Gazzetta Dello Sport)

- MotoGP’s return to Finland faces another hurdle as FIM Safety Officer Franco Uncini confirms the new KymiRing is yet to obtain the required Grade A homologation. The Finnish round is currently set to take place on July 10-12 but plans remain provisional amid the coronavirus crisis. (Speedweek)

- Alex Rins believes beating Marc Marquez in a final corner fight at the 2019 British MotoGP angered the Repsol Honda rider to motivate him to win five consecutive races to duly storm to a clean sweep of world titles. (AS.com)
