MotoGP Gossip: Marquez on doctors - “Everyone can make a mistake…”

-- Marc Marquez says he still has trust in MotoGP doctors after they reportedly erroneously green lit his return to racing action ultimately too soon after surgery on his broken arm. The Spaniard has not raced since the season opener after an accident left him with a fractured arm that required surgery, but an attempt to return days later instead created complications that have forced him out for a longer period of time.

Though comments at the time from HRC boss Alberto Puig raised eyebrows when he appeared to lay blame on doctors for signing off on an early return, Marquez says the error hasn’t prompted him to lose faith in the medical team (DAZN).

-- Jorge Lorenzo has reiterated that he will remain in retirement for the foreseeable future, saying it isn’t a question of competitiveness but because he is enjoying his time out of the spotlight. After abruptly calling time on his career at the end of 2019, Lorenzo penned a testing deal with Yamaha though has been largely sidelined for the season thus far.

In the meantime there were rumours he’d been approached by Ducati for a racing return in 2021 with the three-time champion revealing to AS that a deal was close before he withdrew. However, in a new interview with Marca, he explains a lack of motivation instead holds him back, because he still believes he has what it takes to compete at the sharp end (Marca)

--  To counter Lorenzo’s comments, Ducati general manager Gig Dall’Igna doesn’t deny Lorenzo was an option but says he is satisfied with the decision to hire a youthful line-up. Pecco Bagnaia is expected to be announced as Jack Miller’s team-mate in the factory squad later this week. (Speedweek)
