Binder and Bastianini will have some soul searching to do over the rest of the morning as neither have been able to capitalise on the pace the bike has at Mugello.
Zarco wasn't far away either. He was 0.048s away from Fernandez's time.
But that is the peril of falling into Q1.

Aldeguer leads Fernandez into Q2 with a 1m44.894s.
Jack Miller will start 13th ahead of Zarco, Binder, Bastianini, Oliveira, Mir, Nakagami, Savadori, Ogura and Chantra.

Miller has a good final sector and gets into second, but Aldeguer still has a comfy 0.257s advantage.

Zarco was behind him but couldn't breach the top two - losing too much time on acceleration on that Honda.
Trackhouse have resolved the issue and Fernandez is on his way out, but that's added some pressure he didn't need.

Zarco improves to third, pushing Bastianini down to fourth.
