2025 Portuguese MotoGP: Sprint race AS IT HAPPENED

Live coverage of Sprint at the 2025 Portuguese MotoGP, the penultimate round of the season.

The Sprint race at the 2025 Portuguese MotoGP is due to start at 15:00 local time.

Marco Bezzecchi starts on pole position after an impressive Q2 session that saw him lap three times in the 1:37s in his second run.

Alex Marquez entered qualifying as perhaps the favourite to take pole after his impressive Friday form, but he'll start from fifth after a crash at turn three late on in Q2.

Pedro Acosta qualified on the front row for the first time this season and Portimao is the circuit that saw him take his first premier class podium in 2024.

Fabio Quartararo completes the front row on the Yamaha, although over race distance he is likely to struggle more.

The Sprint will mark the first MotoGP race for Nicolo Bulega, who is replacing Marc Marquez this weekend. The 2025 WorldSBK runner-up will start 18th.

Raul Fernandez will not start the Sprint after withdrawing from the weekend following FP2.
