British MotoGP: Live Sprint race updates from Silverstone

di Giannantonio, whose MotoGP future remains in doubt, receives a boost by moving to the top again as the final ten minutes approach.

Lap times continue to tumble with world champion Francesco Bagnaia now fastest from Bezzecchi, Alex Marquez, Marini, di Giannantonio. 

Luca Marini pushes 0.9s clear of di Giannantonio, with team-mate Marco Bezzecchi - who suffered a big highside on Friday - into third.

Augusto Fernandez is the first MotoGP faller of the day, at Turn 1. The rookie walks away.

Fabio di Giannantonio now leads the timesheets from Marini, Alex Marquez, Zarco and Miller.

Jack Miller is setting the early pace for Red Bull KTM, half-a-second clear of Jorge Martin.

The track is reported to have decent grip but there is a huge amount of spray being thrown up. It's bearable for practice but if this was a race, it would almost certainly be delayed.

Riders are tip-toeing around on their out lap but Aleix Espargaro still runs wide. But with the rain set to continue all day sitting in the pits is not an option.

The track is soaking wet as the red lights go out and riders leave pit lane.
