German MotoGP at Sachsenring: Friday practice as it happened

The fight to secure a top ten spot begins during 'Practice' at Sachsenring. 

Martin was fastest during this morning's FP1 after fitting soft tyres, which Marc Marquez did not.

Good afternoon and welcome back to the German MotoGP at Sachsenring. Practice 2 is coming up at 14:00 UK time. 

Martin fastest ahead of Marquez, Vinales, Oliveira, Acosta, A. Fernandez, Bastianini, A. Marquez, Bagnaia and R. Fernandez.

Martin loses time but he still goes quickest! Martin has done it with new soft tyres.

Martin could be set to go faster by a big margin...

Johann Zarco goes wide at turn eight and through the gravel. Same mistake as Martin earlier.

Breaking news: Aleix Espargaro has decided not to continue this weekend after his injury from Assen has proven too much. 

Martin has done it again just a few corners later. Martin is off at turn one. Is he pushing too hard to match Marquez?

Martin runs off the circuit whilst on a lap good enough to put him P1. 

Marquez breaks into the 1m 20s and is half a second clear of Alex Marquez now.

Wow! Marquez fires in a stunning low 1m 21s time despite overtakin Pedro Acosta at the final corner. Marquez leads by over two tenths from his brother Alex. 

Early return to pit lane for Marc Marquez who has not set a flying  lap yet.

FP1 is underway at Sachsenring.

Can anyone stop Marc Marquez this weekend? That's the big question as the eight-time world champion has won every race he's started at the German venue.
