Alex Rins returns for Silverstone, Quartararo ‘ready to go’
Alex Rins: “It's nice to be back... I‘m feeling good."
After missing the German Grand Prix due to hand injuries at Assen, Alex Rins will return to MotoGP action at Silverstone this weekend.
Rins underwent surgery for the fractures sustained in the Dutch event but has used the summer break to regain fitness for the second half of his debut season at Monster Yamaha.
Rins took one of his most memorable victories when he beat Marc Marquez in a photo finish as a Suzuki rider in the 2019 British round.
“It's nice to be back again after the recovery period. I‘m feeling good. The three weeks off helped me to prepare for this weekend. I had time to pick up training again, so I arrive in the UK ready to ride the M1,” said Rins, yet to be officially confirmed as staying with Yamaha for 2025.
“I am looking forward to Silverstone. It's a track I really like, so I feel like it's a good place to make a comeback. It's also an important round for Monster Energy, and the 75th anniversary celebration adds extra festivity to the start of the second half of the season.”
Rins, team-mate Fabio Quartararo and wild-card Remy Gardner will join their rivals in running a special retro livery for Sunday.
Quartararo, who leads the ‘Japanese Cup’, albeit in 15th overall with a best grand prix finish of seventh this season, is also a past Silverstone MotoGP winner, in 2021.
“After some relaxing and spending time with friends and family, I'm ready to start the second half of the season,” Quartararo said. “I also spent a good amount of the time training.
“We have 11 rounds still to go, and we will be working hard throughout these next few months to find the next step. So, I'm ready to go! I like Silverstone, and it's a big event for Monster Energy, and also for MotoGP.
“I think the fans will really enjoy the special 75th anniversary liveries.”
